Hi, I am Ayen, an acupuncturist based in the beautiful and peaceful local paradise, Omokoroa. I have always been fascinated by the holistic concepts of oriental medicine and would love to share my experiences in acupuncture with the community.

Acupuncture is an ancient practice dating back to the late stone age when people used specially shaped stones or bones to alleviate bodily ailments. The approach has been refined and systemized over 3,000 years into today's acupuncture techniques. Traditional acupuncture considers the human body as a whole, where physical or even mental issues are due to the imbalance of elements within. Acupuncture adjusts and restores balance to the body by stimulating various acupoints, thus alleviating various conditions.

At Halcyon Acupuncture, knowledge and experiences from Western medicine and traditional oriental medicine are combined to diagnose and manage musculoskeletal or neurological conditions and reinforce constitutional health. By doing so, I hope that each visitor receives a rewarding experience and benefits from the ancient acupuncture techniques.

Acupuncture is performed by inserting very thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate physical responses and counteract the diagnosed issues. This approach is suitable for most musculoskeletal or neurological conditions and general health maintenance.
At Halcyon Acupuncture, your safety and well-being are of the utmost importance. Therefore, acupuncture is performed using only sterile, single-use needles and gentle manipulations are applied to minimize any discomfort.

Electroacupuncture involves weak electric currents conducted through pairs of acupuncture needles or adhesive pads. The constant stimulations provided by the electrical pulses enhance the effects of traditional acupuncture. This approach is also suitable for musculoskeletal or neurological conditions. However, it is not suitable for those with metallic implants.

Cupping is applied to the affected area by suction cups. The vacuum created by the suction cups increases the local blood circulation, which loosens tightened muscles, fascia or tissues and produces effects similar to a deep tissue massage. The cups can be stationary or moved around to enhance the effects. This approach is often applied to alleviate localized aches, soreness, tensions and stiffness.

At Halcyon Acupuncture, I incorporate holistic principles in the diagnosis and treatment approaches. The treatment of any given condition continues outside the clinic as each visitor will receive easy-to-follow advice tailored to individual constitutions, lifestyles or even seasonal climates. By doing so, I hope to share the holistic health maintenance concepts with the community, thereby enhancing the quality of our lives together.
